Great food. Great service. Same ol' jokes with a couple new ones by the chef. Prices have increased 30% since I was last there.

I enjoyed eating this restaurant, the food was good and I also impressed the way they prepared the food. They cooked the front of us.

Top quality fresh food, absolutely wonderful service, very good ambiance, clean and neat. Great chef with a great sense of humor. So far it is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Victoria. Reservations are recommended. Definitely worth a shot!!- Happy and satisfied customer.

Solid as always. Dinner prices are a bit steep in my opinion. The sauce is great but overall taste is nothing exceptional. You're paying for the great experience though. Worth a visit.

We had two tables with back to back chefs. Our chef was an extrovert laughing and joking with us. Put on an excellent show interacting with all sitting around his grill. The other table was quiet and subdued and I felt that they got ripped off. They were looking over at us wondering "why are they laughin' so loud'. It really depends on the chef and I think it should be a prerequisite for them to be extroverted. Japanese Village is good but not great. They are trapped in a time warp and one senses it walking through the door. The food is tasty unfortunately I had better at other teppanyaki places in other cities. Many at our tables thoroughly enjoyed their appetizers. I did not have one but will definitely try a couple since I am returning a week from now for another birthday party. I would still recommend them since we all had a very enjoyable time.

It’s not just amazing food- it’s an amazing experience. It’s mesmerizing for all ages to watch the chef prepare the meal right at your table. Very fun and memorable place to dine. We always take out of town guests here.

For 30 yrs I've been going here always love both the experience and the amazing food ~ that ginger steak sauce is crazy good! Cool sharing the larger tables and meeting interesting new people. Took our boys here for the first time tonight and both couldn't stop talking about the great food prepared right before thier eyes and many laughs provided by our hilarious chef, I highly recommend if you've never been.

Ok Japanese food. Although has great reviews on Google, we did not like that much. We prefer more traditional japanese food and the dishes where not well prepared. Even the rice was not as tasteful as we usually have in others good japanese restaurantes. So, despite the fact that it's a nice place, the food was not very good in our opinion.

Outstanding Japanese restaurant. We ate in the Izakaya Lounge for dinner. Kids loved the bento boxes, while adults enjoyed dumplings, sake, and soup. I especially love how quiet and cozy it is. The staff were perfect, and the food even better. Highly recommended.

Had a great time with friends around a table where they cook everything right infront of your eyes! They also have a couple tricks they toss in to make it a little more entertaining to watch! I would highly recommend if you are looking for a different kind of dining experience!

I've been going here on and off for probably 35 years. Nothing has changed in that time! The food is always good and pricing is OK for what it is. Meals start about $25 and go up to $50 for a steak and seafood combo. The food being cooked right in front of you can be fun if you happen to get a funny cook (sometimes they're hilarious and sometimes they struggle a bit to entertain you) . These are shared tables of 8, so if you're a group smaller than 8 and don't like strangers beside you, maybe find somewhere else to eat. I've never left hungry! Parking is via paid lots beside the restaurant or street parking (paid during the day, free in evenings). Restaurant is downstairs (below ground, so if you like eating with a view this place isn't for you) but it's quite well marked. Suitable for larger groups (the place is quite large) but I'd assume you would need to book in advance.

Great place. They cook the food right infront of you. The only reason I give it 4 stars is there is no vegetarian option. Their chi chi drinknis a must try.

Been coming here on and off for around 20 years now. Still as good as when I went as a child. If it has one thing, it is consistency. Good food, a lot of it, and some entertainment.

Great lunch. Tea was great. Tempura appetizer was light and delicious with a great dipping sauce. Mushrooms were excellent with great flavour. The shrimp was delicious and cooked perfectly. The best part by far was the scallops... holy were they to die for. I cannot wait to be back!

Entertainment dining is usually not my cup of tea, but I thoroughly enjoy Japanese cuisine. This restauraunt is great if you have a group of friends to enjoy it with. The dim yet classy atmosphere lends itself to good conversation and could be romantic if not for the group focus. Expect some amount of noise from entertainment at other tables and the grill. The service is excellent and the food is good. Pricing reflects the atmosphere and crowd. I'd come here with some good friends for a fun night.

For all the hype that this establishment receives it is average at best. With food being prepared right in front of you, you would think it would be piping hot! The best thing is the "steak sauce" that they put on the rice. Order a bowl of rice with it on top and you can achieve the entire culinary experience.

This is one of my top.ten in my home city. The past used to house sushi from one of this cities best and well known sushi chefs, but while that ended the dinner experience is always a wonderful time. The food and the cooks make all your dinner in front of you, fresh ingredients and tons of delicious results, never been disappointed in any of my events celebrated here.

It breaks my heart that Japanese Village doesn't get the reviews that it so desperately deserves! Japanese village is by far my favourite teppanyaki place in B.C. I've tried a ton of different ones in Vancouver and I haven't been able to find one that steps up to my flavour standards like Japanese village. Firstly and most importantly, the steak sauce is a must try!

Questions & Answers

I believe the onion choo-choo train is vegan....but it's mostly a meat grill

Agreed they do take reservations

Yes pay parking lot right beside it

Teppan Village in Whistler is the next closest style I'm aware of as I happened to have had the opportunity to try them out last summer.

Went there as a tourist. So, no definitive answer from me. I didn't seen any signage or menu indication of delivery. But, that place is all about the chef cooking in front of you. I would think that delivery would negate the entire teppanyaki experience.

At least twelve on each side

4 on each side. So 12 in total
